PURPOSE: To provide a seal for castings for high-speed rotors and large-diameter rotors. CONSTITUTION: A seal ring 8 is pressed against a casing 11 by limited spring tension at the circumference surface, and is made immovable by the pressure of the medium to be sealed. However, the seal ring 8 can laterally move to the center of the narrow groove 7 by direct contact with the side walls 13, 14 of the groove 7 surrounding the seal ring 8, and friction loss and abrasion at the seal part are prevented. The narrowest gaps 15, 16 prevent any loss of the medium. |
