AGENT FOR ALLEVIATING SIDE EFFECT AND PROMOTING CARCINOSTATIC ACTION OF CYTOTOXIC CARCINOSTATIC AGENT

PURPOSE:To provide an auxiliary agent containing a specific mitrotriazole derivative as an active component, to be used in combination with a carcinostatic agent and effective for mitigating the strong cytotoxicity of the carcinostatic agent and promoting the chemotherapeutic effect of the carcinostatic agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent for alleviating the side effect and promoting the carcinostatic action of a cytotoxic carcinostatic agent contains a nitrotriazole derivative of formula (l is 1-3; n is 0-3; n is 0-3) such as 2-(3'-nitro-l'-triazolyl)acetic acid amide as an active component. The compound of formula can be administered to human at a rate of about 1-2g/dose without developing side effects. The active amount of the compound of formula depends upon the kind and the amount of the cytotoxic carcinostatic agent to be used in combination and is about 1/10 to 3 times the dose of the carcinostatic agent. The side effect of the carcinostatic agent on the digestive organ (e.g. loss of weight) can be alleviated and the carcinostatic action can remarkably be promoted by the use of the auxiliary agent in combination with the carcinostatic agent.
