PURPOSE: To improve the uniformity of a transferred image by image-wise heating a dye-donor element with a laser, transferring a second dye image which provides a given density with approximately the same hue as a first dye image and corresponds to the latter and by lowering the laser power than in the case of only one heating. CONSTITUTION: A dye donor and dye receiver are separated by spacer beads, a dye-donor element is image-wise heated by means of a laser at a given power, a dye image is transferred to a dye-receiver element and a laser-induced thermal dye transfer image is formed. In this case, another portion of the dye-donor element or another dye-donor element is image-wise heated with the laser to transfer a second dye image which provides a given density with approximately the same hue as a first dye image and corresponds to the latter. The power supplied to the laser for the first and second image-wise heating is lowered than the power which would have to be supplied to the laser to produce the same given density with only one image-wise heating. |
