PURPOSE:To provide the optical recording medium which enables edge recording having decreased jitters and enables obtaining signals having extremely high S/N and the process for production thereof. CONSTITUTION:The shapes of respective recording pits 1 of the optical recording medium for recording information signals by bit arrays are formed to an approximately rectangular shape. The edge shapes of the beginning 1a and end 1b of the pits are the same in the recording pits 1 of the rectangular shape. The reproduced signals having excellent transfer characteristics are thus obtd. The rectangular pits are formed by two-beam cutting. Namely, the pits broader than the intrinsic bit width are formed by using wobble light or broad light and both sides are trimmed by a 2nd light beam. Consequently, unexposed parts remain as the rectangular pits. |
