The cut-off device is for a flue gas channel, and includes a valve (2) located on a pivot shaft (23) positioned crossways in the channel, with an edge-side radially directed seal working in junction in the closure position with sealing surfaces of the periphery of the closure valve (2) inclined in the same position to the channel axis. The shaft axis (29) runs near to the cut-off valve (2) and close to the channel axis, and the pivot shaft (23) is located outside the channel cross-section. The cut-off valve (2) has a trapezoidal outline (3,4,5), to the shape of which the sealing surfaces (8) are matched, and via a pivot rod (25) is connected to the pivot shaft (23). The narrow side (4) of the cut-off valve is located nearer to the parallel shaft axis (29) than the wide side (3), and the pivot rod is fixed in the vicinity of the pivot shaft, (23) between it and the wide side, to the cut-off valve (2). ADVANTAGE - For the use of a four-cornered cut-off valve with assymmetrical pivot shafts.
