The invention relates to a method of producing an electronic image from a matrix-type photosensitive sensor 10. The line correlated noise, originating from instabilities in supply voltages on the line conductors, produces visible defects to which the eye is particularly sensitive. According to the invention, the variations in overall illumination of each line are evaluated when passing from one line to the other, and a noise correction value, established on the basis of the difference Dk between the overall illumination of the current line Ln and the overall illumination of the preceding line Ln-1, is subtracted from the pixels of a current line Ln. The difference Dk is derived by forming the histogram of the point-by-point differences between the illuminations of the pixels of the two adjacent lines. The difference value which is most frequently encountered along the line represents the overall illumination difference Dk. The histogram is drawn up in a histogram memory MH, the addresses of which represent the differences in illumination and the contents of which represent the number of occurrences of a given difference during the exploration of the line. <IMAGE>
