The invention relates to a method for coating a titanium alloy prosthesis. It is characterised in that: - before the heat treatment which generates the bonding (4) between the substrate (2) and the coating (3), a layer (3) of biocompatible phosphatised cement is constructed on the surface (5) of the substrate, - once this layer of cement has been constructed, the substrate and the coating with which it is covered are subjected to a controlled electromagnetic-induction heating operation which causes a rapid rise in the temperature which is very rapid and very short-term, so as to cause a temperature rise only at the level of the surface layer (6) of the substrate (2) and which is just sufficient to produce physico-chemical bonding between the substrate (2) and the coating (3), but which is too transitory for the substrate, beyond its surface layer, to reach a critical allotropic transformation temperature of the substrate, of the order of 900@ Celsius. <IMAGE>
