PURPOSE:To provide a gargle most effective for the prevention of colds and capable of being used for cleanly maintaining upper respiratory mucous membrane by adding salt to Japanese apricot (umes), applying a load to the umes, and subsequently suitably controlling the concentration of the salt in the exuded aqueous solution, etc. CONSTITUTION:The umes are mixed with 10-20wt.% of salt, subjected to a load and subsequently allowed to stand for 5-15 days, followed by controlling the concentration of the salt in the exuded aqueous solution to 0.5-25% to provide the gargle, otherwise the umes are subjected to the removal of the seeds thereof, crushed, squeezed, and subsequently controlled to a salt concentration of 0.5-25% to provide the gargle. The gargle does not damage pharyngeal mucous membrane. Since the acidic taste of the umes promotes the secretion of saliva, the gargle can protect the mucous membrane and simultaneously can sterilize the pharyngeal mucous membrane and resolve the inflammation of the mucous membrane. Since the extract of the umes which are a natural food is used as a main raw material, the gargle is safe even when drunk by babies. |
