The present invention relates to an arrangement 1 for producing a seal along an edge 6A of a covering element 4 which is movable relative to an opening 6, the seal 1 having a compressible core 7 and a protective layer 8 which covers at least that surface 7A of the sealing body 2 which can interact with a counter-pressure part 9. A durable seal 1 is obtained by said protective layer 8 and the sealing body cores 7 being integrated with one another by making the sealing body 2 from plastic foam material, that is to say polyurethane foaming agent.
