The invention relates to an electrostatic coalescer for dehydrating crude oil. The coalescer comprises: - a parallelepipedal vessel which has a vertical axis and is earthed, - at least one flat electrode (54, 56) parallel to the axis of the vessel and connected to the positive terminal of a voltage source through insulating sleeves (68) fitted with seals (70), - at least two electrically insulating planar rigid plates (72, 74; 76, 78), arranged respectively on either side of the electrode and at equal distance from it and from the opposite walls (40, 42) of the vessel, and - sealing elements (60, 62) bearing against the other two walls (46, 48) of the vessel, into which elements the peripheral edges of the said insulating plates are fitted. <IMAGE> |
