A chipper knife assembly (40) for a stump disintegrator has knife holder bodies (46) which radially span across pockets or openings (43) formed in a rotating chipper disk (36). A reversible and replaceable blade insert (48) with a plurality of selectable carbide edges (72) is carried on the leading face (60) of the holder body and fixed thereon by means of a threaded fastener (50) inserted from the trailing face (62) of the holder body through a hole (64) formed between the trailing face and the leading face. The end of the fastener engages a threaded recess (74) in the blade insert. The chipper knife assembly divides the chipper disk opening (43) into a leading opening (44) through which wood chips and other debris may pass for subsequent discharge and a trailing opening (45) which provides clearance and access to the threaded fastener (50) for its removal and installation. <IMAGE> |
