An automatic lock, in particular a door lock, has a latch 2 and a bolt 3 which are arranged in a housing 1, in the end of which there is a plate 4 with openings intended for the latch and the bolt and which interact with corresponding recesses in a striking plate, and a return arrangement which loads the latch in the closing direction, the bolt 3 being caused to project into its locking position automatically when the latch slides into the striking plate. <IMAGE>
