摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a translation device not having the disadvantage of a piezoelectric element which requires a remarkably high voltage for making the translation motion of an actuator main body, generates hysteresis, and has no clear correspondence relation against translational motions and from which an adjusted translation position disappears when the voltage is eliminated, by using a solid electrolyte in place of the piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION: The translation device is provided with an actuator main body 2 and a coupling member 10 which is mechanically brought into contact with the main body 2. The main body 2 is constituted at least of one main body composed of a solid electrolyte clamped between a pair of supporting surfaces 7 and 8. The main body 2, in addition, is provided at least with a pair of electrodes 3 and 4 and mass shifting is caused between the electrodes 3 and 4 of the electrode pair through the electrolyte under the action of a potential difference. The dimensions of the electrodes 3 and 4 are changed by the mass shifting and the coupling member 10 translationally moves in the direction of a first coordinate axis against the basis 11 of the device.
