PURPOSE: To provide a compact superior ring laser of simple constitution with high efficiency, high output, and a wide tuning range which has polarization dependence and is equipped with a low-loss tuning element capable of tuning a laser through simple operation. CONSTITUTION: To generate laser light by laser operation, an electronic tuning fiber laser inputs a light gain to an optical fiber ring 110 by a quantity exceeding its light loss. The frequency of the laser light is tuned by Fabri-Perot 101 irrelevantly to polarization. A gain input means 106 is typically an erbium-doped fiber amplifier which is pumped by a laser diode 104. In general, this laser has a means 102 which circulates the laser light in the optical fiber ring 110 in only one direction. |
