PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in C/N and increase in errors by constituting a reflection layer of a polycrystalline metal and orienting the crystal face thereof in parallel with a substrate plane. CONSTITUTION:The reflection layer of a magneto-optical disk or phase transition type optical disk, etc., which have a recording layer and the reflection layer on a substrate and record and/or reproduce information by irradiation with light is constituted of the polycrystalline metal and the crystal face thereof is oriented in parallel with the substrate plane. The reflection layer is preferably made of a crystal structure having a face-centered cubic lattice, and more preferably the (111) face of the crystal of the reflection layer is oriented in parallel with the substrate plane. The reflection layer is preferably constituted of aluminum or aluminum alloy. The polycrystalline Al or Al alloy film, the (111) face of which is oriented in parallel with the substrate plane, is constituted if the film of the Al or Al alloy is formed by a confronting target sputtering method. |
