PURPOSE:To prevent peeling of an insulating layer from an outer surface of a superconductor due to a load generated in manufacturing a coil. CONSTITUTION:In a covered superconductor where superconductors 1 are covered with a normal conductor 2 provided with an insulating layer 3 at the cooling surface thereof, a reinforcing member such as a fiber-like reinforcing member having a strength larger than that of a coating material is housed inside the insulating layer 3. Consequently, since the fiber-like reinforcing member, for example, short glass fiber having a small diameter is disposed inside the insulating layer in a continuously or discontinuously twisted state not only in the circumferential direction but also in the axial direction of the superconductor, shear strength of the insulating layer becomes larger and joining strength between the insulating layer and the outer surface of the superconductor becomes larger. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent separation of the insulating layer therein in manufacturing a coil and peeling of the insulating layer from the outer surface of the superconductor, and to secure insulating and cooling functions. |
