PURPOSE: To house a large size monitor without shortening the life of a spring at the time when an actuator is inoperative. CONSTITUTION: A spring motor 40 comprising at least two torsional springs attached in parallel to provide the sufficient torque to retract a monitor 12 is installed. A monitor is attached to a frame 14 such that the monitor can move from a stowed position to a viewing position. A ball screw type actuator 20 is so attached to the frame and the monitor as to rotate the ball screw 30 in a manner of rotating the monitor to and from two positions. When the ball screw 30 is rotated by an electric motor to rotate the monitor to the viewing position, energy is stored in the torsional springs and in the case of electric power failure, the monitor can be turned back to the stowed position by the stored energy.
