PURPOSE:To obtain the method for measuring the size of a material when the sizes are controlled in the production, shipment, acceptance and the like of rocks, ores and other materials. CONSTITUTION:A material is photographed by using a photographing device. A straight line 11, which gives the maximum length of every image of the material is obtained by an image processing device based on the image signal from the photographing device. Arbitrary numbers of perpendiculars 12, 13 and 14 with respect to the obtained straight line 11 are drawn. The length of each perpendicular, which crosses the image of the material, is individually computed. The length of the longest perpendicular 14 among them is made to be the size of the material, and the size is outputted for every material. |
