PURPOSE:To maintain stable ink ejection performance for a long time for a recording head in separate type for which a plurality of ink tanks can be used alternately by a method wherein driving conditions for the recording head are changed in accordance with the frequency of use of the ink tanks for one recording chip. CONSTITUTION:In the case where an ink tank 1 is used, reference temperature for controlling the temperature is set at a first set temperature T1. As the ink in the first ink tank 1 is consumed and the tank 1 is replaced by a tank 2 and as the tank 2 is mounted to the same recording chip, driving condition for the recording head is changed downward by setting the reference temperature for controlling the temperature at a second set temperature T2. Thereby, high quality recording images can be formed for duration of the recording by the tank 2 with less variation in recording density and with efficiency relatively better than the previous recording. When a tank 3 is mounted likewise, the driving condition is changed downward further with setting made at a third set temperature T3. By employing methods as mentioned above, a large amount of ink, larger than in the case of mounting a single ink tank, can be used without allowing changes to occur in its characteristic, and formation of quality recording images can be made stably for a long time with the recording chip. |
