PURPOSE:To provide stainless steel for magnetism, particularly, low in residual magnetic flux density, excellent in soft magnetism and sufficiently high in strength as well and to provide its manufacturing method. CONSTITUTION:The objective stainless steel for magnetism is martensitic stainless steel contg. 0.08 to 0.20% C and 11.5 to 18.0% Cr, and in which, preferably, 0.05 to 1.00% of one or two kinds of W and Mo are incorporated, the density of carbide in the structure is regulated to 5X10<5> pieces/mm<2>, the grain size of ferrite is regulated to >=7mum, residual magnetic flux density Br is regulated to <=0.9T and rectangularity ratio is regulated to <=0.65. Moreover, this manufacturing method is characterized by executing annealing by heating steel to the A3 transformation point or above and thereafter cooling it to <=600 deg.C at 30 to 80 deg.C/hr rate to obtain the stainless steel for magnetism. |
