PURPOSE:To manufacture a low-cost mold being excellent in durability and having a heat-resisting property, by a method wherein concrete is poured into a casting- mold having a shape equivalent to the back of a surface layer of the low-cost mold, and a support layer of so obtained low-cost mold is secured together to the back of said mold. CONSTITUTION:A mold release agent is applied to a portion, modelling on a configuration of a molded product, of a prototype 1 made of wood or the like being of the same shape as that of a partial surface of the molded product, and a metal, such as zinc, copper, etc., is coated by flame spraying to form a surface layer 2. Side frames 4, 4, projecting from the upper section of the prototype, are secured at sides of the prototype 1, and concrete is poured thereinto. A solidified concrete 5 pulled out is dried after curing, and a thermostable epoxy resin layer is cure- formed by hardening on a surface corresponding to the back of the surface layer 2. The back of the surface layer 2 is processed by a sand-blasting method, and thermostable epoxy resins are applied thereon. The concrete unit 5 is then brought into contact with the back so treated, and the surface layer 2 and the concrete unit 5 are adhered together by heat-curing. The prototype 1 is removed from the surface layer 2 to complete the production of the low-cost mold. |
