PURPOSE:To make an air conditioner compact and to ensure the space at the feet when mounting the air conditioner in a car room by providing an evaporator and a heater core in which each long side of them is located along each side of the passages for warm air and cooling air in a longitudinal direction which are positioned in parallel in front and in rear. CONSTITUTION:The inside of an air conditioner case 4 is separated into a front passage 4a and a rear passage 4b by means of a partition wall 4c, and a heater core 2 and an evaporator 3 are arranged to locate their long sides along the sides of the passages 4a, 4b in a longitudinal direction. Further, they are positioned with a slant of generally 15 deg. against a longitudinal direction of the passages. Accordingly, it is possible to largely set the dimension of a longitudinal direction in a heat exchanger to ensure the sufficient capacity of heat exchanging and it is possible to extremely shorten the dimension l2 of a height direction. Further, since it is also possible to shorten the dimension of a width direction in the air conditioner case in comparison with the arrangement of the heat exchanger across the passages, it is possible to form the air conditioner to have a wholly compact shape. Accordingly, even when mounting the air conditioner in the inside of an instrument panel within the car room, it is possible to ensure the space at the feet and to increase comfortableness in a small-sized compact car etc. |
