The device comprises an extruded strand element of an elongated construction and including a polymeric host material that contains: ¢A! a substance which undergoes molecular changes subject to detection upon exposure to the high energy radiation (which is preferably alanine); and ¢B! a high tensile thread or string for reinforcing the tensile strength of the extruded strand element. The radiation integrating detector can be associated with a stock in close proximity or physically connected to, integrated with or actually be a part of a stock.
