HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT HAVING ATTENUATOR LOCATED IN SAME BORE AS CONTROL VALVE

A hydraulic control unit (18) of a vehicular brake system (10) includes an attenuator (28, 28', 28'', 28''') provided in the same bore (130, 130A) as a fluid control valve (20). The attenuator (28, 28', 28'', 28''') includes an element (202, 300, 400, 500) located in the bore. The element (202, 300, 400, 500) and the side and end walls of the bore (130, 130A) define a fluid chamber (200). An orifice (30) is formed in the element (202, 300, 400, 500) for directing fluid to an inlet passage (172) of the fluid control valve (20). High pressure fluid pulses passing through the orifice (30) are damped prior to reaching the control valve (20).
