MULTIPLEXING ARRANGEMENT OF COLOR SENSOR ARRAY

PURPOSE: To obtain a drive array not requiring a buffer memory device to acquire full color information as to each picture element of a scanned page in the full width color image sensor array suitable for both synchronous and asynchronous operations. CONSTITUTION: The image sensor array 10 includes a board or chips 12 having a plurality of photoelectric element regions 14 and the chips are arranged in parallel with each other closely. Photo diodes representing three primary colors are arranged at a pitch of (a) in a high speed scanning direction and at a pitch of a/3 in a low speed scanning direction (where a is a photo diode pitch) in the photoelectric element regions 14. Each photoelectric element region is provided with a 2-stage transfer circuit 20 and an amplifier 33, and they entirely form a photoelectric element cell 15. When a level of an image signal charge reaches a desired level, the charges are transferred to a common video output bus 22 by a timing signal from a proper shift register and a logic circuit 24.
