PURPOSE:To provide the title catalyst usable within a wide temp. region by enhancing the purifying capacity of nitrogen oxide within a low temp. region. CONSTITUTION:A nitrogen oxide purifying catalyst reducing nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas to nitrogen in the coexistence of hydrocarbon within an oxygen excessive atmosphere is composed of zeolite having one or more kind of a component among copper and cobalt supported thereon by ion exchange and further having gold supported thereon.
