<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a square chip resistor having a shape close to a more cylindrical chip resistor in a simple manufacturing process and at a lower price by a method wherein an insulating substrate is used in which one surface is made with a circular projecting shape having one side in the width direction as a chord. CONSTITUTION:A shape of an insulating substrate 1 is made as an angular shape in such a condition that one surface is made with a circular projecting shape having one side in the width direction as a chord and a substrate thickness at the thickest part of the projecting shape has a length of 80% to 120% as long as the one side which is constructed as the chord of a circular arc. A pair of upper plane electrodes 2 of a silver system thick film is formed on the smooth plane of this substrate 1 and a rear plane electrode is formed on the projecting plane. Next, a resistor having a ruthenium system thick film superimposed on a part of the upper plane electrode 2 and a first protective glass 3 completely covering the resistor are formed, and an end plane electrode 4 of a silver system thick film superimposed on the upper electrode 2 and a part of the rear plane electrode is formed. Thus, as the insulating substrate itself is rounded even if a second protective glass is not formed, the shape can be closed to a cylindrical chip resistor and production costs can be reduced.</p> |
