Prodn. of stretch grids from thin metal strip - by lateral stretching of slotted, continuously fed strip

Stretch grids are mfd. from thin metal strips by stretching, laterally to the cutting direction, staggered holes in rows in such strips to produce a mesh structure. The cuts are produced in the longitudinal direction of the strip, and the slotted strip, while being continuously fed in its longitudinal direction is stretched continuously over its entire breadth. The installation includes a cutting mechanism (4) provided with cutting tools operating in the longitudinal direction of the strip (6), followed by a lateral stretching mechanism (7). USE/ADVANTAGE - In the metalworking industry. It allows stretch grids to be mfd. from very thin strips in a technically and economically satisfactory manner, esp. at high prodn. rates and with greater widths.
