The towing eye assembly is pressed from one piece of metal, with the eye formed by bending the metal into a torus shape (1). Each side of the eye two upright flanges (9), and lateral support flanges (10) brace the fitting. The main mounting plate (2) has trapezoidal reinforcing grooves and side flanges (12) for strength. The bracket is fitted to the rear end of the battery well, which is reinforced by pressed grooves. The one edge of the mounting plate is welded to the side chassis member. The inside of the battery well is reinforced by a welded plate. ADVANTAGE - Low cost fitting, can take towing strains in any direction, good access for towing bar fitting.
