Production of synthesis gas from carbonaceous material. A dispersion of carbonaceous material is injected into the upper region of a reactor and allowed to sink inside the reactor accords an elongated high-temperature focal zone projected into the reactor by means of a system for the high concentration of solar energy. The residence time inside the reactor is adjustable by means of countercurrent gas flow.
