PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change optical recording medium which has excellent high-density preservation durability by improving erasability in wet-hot preservation and preservation in initial recording which are important for the high density recording. SOLUTION: When the optical recording medium is manufactured in which medium information can be recorded, erased, and reproduced by irradiating a recording layer formed on a substrate with a light beam and is recorded and erased by phase change between an amorphous phase and a crystal phase, the recording layer is manufactured by sputtering and sputtering gas contains at least hydrogen.
