PURPOSE:To provide satin white not containing coarse particles, containing an extremely reduced amount of quartz particles and not causing the generation of streak defects by dissolving calcined lime having a specific particle diameter and subsequently reacting the suspension of the produced hydrated lime with aluminum sulfate. CONSTITUTION:In a method for producing satin white for coatings by dissolving calcined lime in water for the production of the suspension of the hydrated lime and subsequently reacting the hydrated lime with aluminum sulfate, the particle diameter of the calcined lime is controlled to a range of 0.1-5.0mm. When the particle diameter of the calcined lime exceeds 5.0mm, the calcined lime is not suitable, because the remaining of many dissolution residues, the generation of clogging troubles and the increase of coarse particles in the particle size distribution are caused at the step of filtration after the calcined lime is dissolved in water and before aluminum sulfate is added. When the particle diameter of the calcined lime is smaller than 0.1mm, the contamination of quarts having a particle diameter of 75-100mu and streak defects may be caused. |
