PURPOSE:To provide a new polymerizable phenol derivative useful as a polymerizable monomer for recording materials at the points of polymerization sensitivity, preservability, the improvement of emulsifying suitability and the improvement of solubility. CONSTITUTION:A compound of the formula [X is H, alkyl, halogen, alkylsulfonyl, OH, phenyl capable of being substituted; Y is H, OH, alkoxycarbonyl, halogen, alkyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkoxy, alkanoyloxy, (meth) acryloyloxy; Z is COO, O, SO2, SO2NH; R is O, S, SO2, CO, NH, divalent group having a cyclic structure; P is (meth)acryloyloxy], e.g. 3-chloro-4-hydroxybenzoic acid-[2-(2-methacyloyloxyethoxy)ethyl] ester. The compound is obtained by subjecting the corresponding benzoic acid methyl ester and a compound having a diol unit to an ester exchange reaction and subsequently reacting the produced phenol derivative with both an acid halide and an amide or an urea derivative. |
