The invention relates to a device for the production of photosynthetic microorganisms. The aim of the invention is to produce a device which makes it possible to ensure the circulation of the culture medium in the tubes of a photobioreactor without damaging the organisms cultured. This aim is achieved with the aid of a device comprising a photobioreactor (2) and a gas lift device which makes it possible simultaneously to load the culture medium with CO2 and to cause it to circulate. The gas lift device comprises a load reservoir (10) connected to the photobioreactor by a small descending tube (14) such that the hydraulic pressure created at the inlet (16) of the said photobioreactor makes it possible to cause circulation of the medium. The outlet (18) of the photobioreactor (2) is connected to the reservoir (10) by a small ascending tube (12) provided in its lower part with a gas injector (20) which makes it possible to cause the culture medium to rise up to the reservoir (10). <IMAGE>
