PURPOSE: To provide an opto-electronic memory device without movable parts which is inexpensive, easily produced, small and portable. CONSTITUTION: This optical-electronic memory device includes a reading means provided with a planar array of parallel electrooptical light shutters 16 to be irradiated by a parallel light beam 11 and the planar array of a light sensing element 18 extended vertically to and separately from this array is parallel, and a reading area 20 is regulated by the intersection of the shutter and the light-sensitive element. A memory element 14 is provided with the memory positions of a two-dimensional array to store information in the form of a light transmission characteristics at these memory positions. The memory element 14 is arranged between a shutter array and a light sensitive element array, by arraying its memory position with a reading area. By selectively operating the light shutter by means of a driving circuit, a line at the memory position is successively and optically read out one by one, to obtain an electrical output from the light-sensitive element 18, according to the characteristic of a line to which the memory position corresponds to. |
