PURPOSE:To enable the obtaining of an exposed visible light and the impartation of the characteristics approximate to the characteristics of printed matter with a simple device. CONSTITUTION:A compd. which generates an acid by light and a compd. which is changed in its color tone by the acid are incorporated into a water-soluble matting agent part in the image forming method which subjects an image forming material successively having a photosensitive layer and the water-soluble matting agent part on a transparent base to image exposing from the side of the base where the photosensitive layer is not provided. In addition, the compd. which generates the acid by light and the compd. which is changed in its color tone by the acid are incorporated into the water-soluble matting agent part in the image forming method which executes the imagewise exposing from the water-soluble matting agent part side.
