A transformer stage is used to change signals from a non- symmetrical system into a symmetrical system or visa versa. The system has an electrically insulating substrate of aluminium oxide etched to provide an unbalanced input (1) and a pair of balanced connections (5,6). The balanced connections have a "U" formed line structure (4) that creates a so called broadside-coupled-suspended strip line. ADVANTAGE - Provides signal transmission in 2 GHz range.
