PROCESSING APPARATUS AND STORAGE SYSTEM FOR MULTIMEDIA DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing apparatus and a storage system for multimedia data whereby contents of moving picture data subjected to coding / compression by the MPEG-4 can easily be grasped without the need for reproduction.

SOLUTION: A still picture based on data of the MPEG-4 is stored in a user area set by the MPEG-4 and contents of moving picture data subjected to coding / compression by the MPEG-4 are grasped by referencing the still picture. Further, the processing apparatus for multimedia data is configured to include a display means for displaying MPEG-4 file in a list form and that the still picture stored in the user area set by the MPEG-4 is displayed when the display means displays the MPEG-4 file as a list.
