PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film, having the smooth surface and excellent in slipperiness, abrasion resistance and coating properties by adding a specific inorganic oxide spherical fine particles to a polyester. CONSTITUTION:The objective film is obtained by adding inorganic oxide spherical fine particles, prepared by hydrolyzing an organometallic compound, preferably an alkoxy metallic compound (derivative) in an alcoholic solution and having the average particle diameter within the range of 0.05 to 2mum and the standard deviation of the particle diameter within the range of 1 to 1.5 in an amount of 0.01-5wt.% based on a polyester thereto. This film is excellent in electromagnetic conversion characteristics and suitable for producing magnetic tapes. Furthermore, the organometallic compound preferably consists essentially of a silicon, a titanium and/or a zirconium compounds and the inorganic oxide is preferably silica, titania and/or zirconia. |
