In an optoelectric emitting and receiving device, the light emitted by the optical emitter (1) is polarized and the optical receiver (6) detects essentially only polarized light whose direction of polarization is essentially perpendicular to the direction of polarization of the light emitted by the emitter (1). A simple, compact device is thus obtained, easy to assemble and with relatively wide manufacturing tolerances, having very good crosstalk properties, useable with all kinds of socket connectors for optical waveguides and for various wavelengths, capable of being exchanged at will and of being connected to a network.
