The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of the acids of general formula I <IMAGE> in which R represents the following functional groups: <IMAGE> characterised in that an aldehyde of formula II R-(CH2)5-CHO is treated, in a reaction of Wittig-Horner type, with a phosphonoacetate in the aqueous phase in the presence of an alkaline carbonate (alkali metal carbonate) and in that saponification is carried out by a base in alcoholic solution, without isolation of the intermediates. The present invention also relates to 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid and 9-oxo-2-decenoic acid, obtained according to [lacuna] useful in dermatological and cosmetological treatments.
