The subject of the invention is a gear motor unit. The gear motor unit is of the type using a clutch at the output of the reduction gear in order to limit the torque of the drive shaft, the said clutch driving a worm characterised by the fact that a ball nut (4, 5) is mounted on the worm, which ball nut acts as a moving carriage (6) reversible in terms of translation; on the said moving carriage (6) is mounted a rack element parallel to the longitudinal axis of the worm and which comes to face a pinion (17) located for this purpose and not secured to the worm and to the moving carriage (6), the said pinion (17) rotationally drives a shaft. The invention applies particularly to the motorisation of garage doors. <IMAGE>
