PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of ghost phenomenon and to obtain developed images homogeneous in a longitudinal direction by forming the developer carrying member having a coating layer consisting of graphite particulates dispersed in a resin and setting the triboelectrifying power of the coating layer to a developer higher in the central part than at the end in the longitudinal direction of the developer carrying member. CONSTITUTION:The resin coating layer 10 contg. at least the crystalline graphite is formed as conductive particulates on the surface of a developing sleeve 2 as the developer carrying member. A cylindrical pipe 9 consisting of aluminum or stainless steel, etc., is used for the base body of the developing sleeve 2 coated with the coating layer 10. The content ratio of the conductive particulates in the coating layer 10 is varied in the central part U and end parts V, W of the sleeve 2 in order to increase the triboelectrifying power to the toner in the central part U than at the ends V, W of the sleeve 2. Or the polishing treatment of the coating layer 10 is varied between the central part U and end parts V, W of the sleeve 2. |
