The measurement unit measures or displays characteristics of the workpiece on the basis of defined geometric reference positions, e.g. the top edge of the spindle holder, in various coordinate directions. This is achieved using opto-mechanical devices, esp. a coordinate carriage and a transmission light projector mounted on it, adjustable in the coordinate directions. The measurement unit can consist of an assembly with two projectors, i.e. a transmission (22) and a top illumination (32) projector. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables measurement of all parameters required for processing workpiece on numerically controlled machine tool.
