Fixed and moving contacts (23a,23b) of a vacuum valve (23) are brought together by the pivoting of a lever (29) on the underside of a control unit (21) with a tension spring (32) hooked into a hole (29a). Movement of the lever is transmitted to the moving contact by an insulating rod (33), formed in one piece with a chamber contg. a helical spring (35), and carrying markings for contact wear monitoring. ADVANTAGE - Fewer components required for power transmission to moving contact, and opening and closure of h.v. circuits are more reliable with compact vacuum switch.
