The system has a precipitating chamber (3) with limit walls (9) which extend radially from the outlet (6) of the basin into the interior of the basin. The inner side of the settling basin (2) and the outer limit wall (9) of the precipitating chamber (3) are contoured to form part flows (7a,7b) towards opposite sides of the precipitating chamber (3) and in a reverse flow to the connection of the precipitating chamber (3) at the settling chamber (2) where there is precipitator(s) (5) of the chamber (3). Pref. precipitator(s) (5) are located at the side and curved limit walls (9) of the precipitating chamber (3). The chamber (3) has an inlet (11) at the end extending into the basin. The precipitating chamber (3) is divided into two sections, with a precipitator (5) for each section and the two part flows (7a,7b) are directed into each section. An immersed plate (13) and/or an immersed tube (12) are at the feed side of the settling chamber (2) and/or at the inlet of the precipitating chamber (3) and its sections, to change the waste water flow from upwards to downwards. A flow guide at the entry to the precipitating chamber (3) or its sections takes the water from the lower zone of the settling chamber (2) with a slight flow speed through an immersion tube at the lower end of the limit wall, with a trapezoid cross section. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used at building sites etc. to separate out floating matter. It is simple to use, has a relatively small structure, with easy access to all parts for maintenance and cleaning, and effectively removes all hazardous matter.
