WATER SOLUBLE POLYESTER COMPOSITION

The copolyester resin is obtained by mixing an ester-exchange reacting dicarboxylic acid component (A) and a glycol component (B). (A) is composed of 50-85 mole% aromatic dicarboxylic acid, 0.5-25 mole% aromatic dicarboxylic acid containing alkali metal salt of sulfonic acid, 0.5-25 mole% silane-based dicarboxylic acid of formula (I) and 0.5-25 mole% ester derivative. (B) is composed of above 60 mole% aliphatic or alicyclic glycol and 1-40 mole% diethylene glycol or triethylene glycol. In formula, R1 is C1-15 aliphatic hydrocarbon and R2 is C1-4 aliphatic hydrocarbon. The composition has a good water solubility, and is useful as primer for coating.
