PURPOSE:To improve operation performance, secure the advantageous space problem, and permit the application as is to a steering column device equipped with a collision energy absorbing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A column type change lever mechanism is equipped with a shift arm 15 which is assembled on a power steering column 14 which tilts, together with a steering wheel 13 in the tilt operation in the vertical direction, in coaxial and turnable manner. A change lever 16 which is connected with the shift arm 15 and tuning-operates the shift arm 15 and a bell crank 17 which is assembled with the upper steering column 14 so as to be turnable around the axis line Z which nearly crosses at right angle with the axis line Y and the tilt center axis line X and transmits the turn of the shift arm 15 to a push- pull cable 18 which extends forward in the vicinity of the tilt center axis line X are provided, and an automatic transmission AT for a vehicle is constituted so as to be change-operated. |
