The impact sensor has a housing with an inner chamber and an independent functional unit mounted in, and attached to the housing. The functional unit contains a frame (3) inside the chamber and carrying a weight (4) which is displaced when the arrangement is subjected to a shock. A trigger lever (6) rotatably mounted in the frame is arranged to protrude out of the housing when the weight is displaced. The frame can have a toothed rod engaged by a pinion on one side of the weight. ADVANTAGE - Simplified assembly, suitable for mass production.
