Appts. for severing tubular members comprises frame adapted for positioning inside the tubular member, frame carrying a circular-shaped explosive charge means with circumferentially spaced detonation signal receiving locations, to facilitate explosion of the explosive charge means substantially simultaneously about circumference of the explosive charge means. Frame comprises a pair of parallel spaced-apart deflection plate means for creating a focused charge of the explosive charge means. Severing appts. comprises a frame with top compression plate, parallel bottom compression plate, each attached to corresp. deflection plates by spacer bars secured equidistantly at peripheral edges of plates. Deflection plates and compression plates are circular shaped of equal dia. and distance between upper compression and deflection plates is equal to distance between lower plates.
